Amanzi - the meaning

The word, 'amanzi' is a Zulu word which means 'water'.

The company is named after a town in South Africa which is called 'Amanzimtoti'. Loosely translated, this means 'sweet waters'.

The name of the town came from the Chief of the Zulus, Shaka Zulu, who once stopped at a river along the KwaZulu-Natal coast and drank from the waters. He declared: "Kanti amanza mtoti", or: "so the water is sweet". This became the river's name and then also the name of the town that was formed at the mouth of the river.
